Parent Portal

Parent portals are primarily a mirror of the student portal:


(1) Icon Toolbar

A parent's portal has the same LoopMail and My Calendar icons as all other users of School Loop Plus. There is no Locker or Drop Box for the Parent Portal. Parents also have Classrooms and Groups pull-down menus to access the teacher classrooms and any groups they may belong to.

(2) Academics & Attendance

All of the grades and progress reports published by the student's teachers are located here. Recents scores, zeros, and a trend graph are available by clicking the arrow next to the grade. 

Links to the classrooms are available by clicking the course name. There you will find course related information including, this week's assignments, curriculum, the classroom locker and calendar. There are also links that allow parents to quickly send a LoopMail message to one or all of their student's teachers. 

If your school exports attendance data to school, an Attendance tab will be visible next to the Academics tab. The optional Attendance feature displays a Student's absences and tardies for the current week by period and/or by full day. Click the Attendance tab to see this. Click the All Attendance button to view all attendance data for the school year.  Click the Show/Hide button to see a description of what your school's attendance codes mean.

(3) Zeros Alert, Prior Schedule, Submitted Work & Show/Hide Grades

You can click Zeros Alert to get a special report with details about any assignments with a zero score. Prior Schedule link will display any classes the student has dropped or been transferred out of during the current school year. The Dropbox button allows you to see any files that your student has turned in for their assignments. The Show/Hide Grades button allow you to show or hide course averages on your portal page.

(4) Task List: Current Assignments

Displays any current assignments. Students can check-off completed assignments and the checked box will display on your portal.

(5) Calendar

The calendar shows events and assignments pertinent to your student.

(6) My Students

A parent account is initially associated with a single student. After creating their account, parents can use the Add Student button to add other students (in the same school) to their account. All of their children on their account are listed in this section of their portal. Clicking the names of their children switches their view to that student's information.

(7) Discussions

Just like staff portals, this section of the parent portal shows the current replies to discussions in which the parent is participating.

(8) News

All news published for parents appears in this section of their portal. The News icon at the top of their portal is an archive of all news published for the school year.

Custom Data - if used by the school

The optional Custom Data feature displays information determined by your school.  They can choose to display specific student information such as library fines, lunch balances or anything else they deem important. This information is determined individually by each school and displayed at their convenience.

Note: Parents can choose to display their portals in Spanish or Chinese by selecting their preferred Language from a pull down menu in Account Management.
